What is TED?
What is TED? TED is a nonprofit devoted to “Ideas Worth Spreading” usually in the form of short, powerful talks (18 minutes or less). TED began in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment and Design converged. Over 30 years later TEDTalks cover a plethora of topics — from science to business to global issues — in more than 100 languages. Meanwhile, independently run TEDx events help share ideas in communities around the globe.
What is TEDx?
In the spirit of Ideas Worth Spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxYoungstown (x = independently organized TED event). Fascinating TEDTalk videos will combine with live (local and international) speakers to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx Program, but individual TEDx events (including TEDxYoungstown) are self-organized.
We are a team of excited volunteers in the Mahoning Valley who are bringing Ideas Worth Spreading to life in 2018 (and beyond). We honor and celebrate our region’s rich, diverse ingenuity across many disciplines. At our TEDx events, we plan to shine a light on forward-thinkers; game-changing concepts; artists and creatives who can show us news ways of being in the world. We are seeking out local luminaries as well as ingenious internationals to help shatter the glass ceiling of our minds. It is our hope that you will be awestruck with the talent, energy and accomplishments of those who participate in our events. It is our privilege to get to know and inspire you. Thank you for being a part of our TEDx community!
Thanks for joining us!
